Portland approves 380-foot tower, Maine’s tallest, with condos, hotel, and rooftop restaurant.
The Portland Planning Board has unanimously approved a 30-story, 380-foot mixed-use tower on Union Street, set to become Maine’s tallest building.
The project, led by East Brown Cow Management LLC, will include 73 condos, an 88-room hotel, commercial space, and a rooftop restaurant, replacing a former parking lot.
Designed to resemble a lighthouse, it aligns with updated zoning laws and will contribute $3.3 million to the city’s housing trust fund instead of including affordable units.
The development, part of Old Port Square, now moves toward permits and construction, though major design changes would require re-review.
