NSW releases draft Sydney Plan to house 1.2 million by 2045 with transit-focused growth.
The NSW government has released its draft Sydney Plan, aiming to support 1.2 million new residents by 2045 through focused growth around 43 urban centers, including Sydney, Parramatta, and the new city of Bradfield.
The plan prioritizes transit-oriented, dense development near train and bus hubs to reduce sprawl, deliver 377,000 homes by mid-2029, and create 700,000 new jobs in health, education, and manufacturing.
It replaces the 2018 Greater Sydney Plan, emphasizing streamlined approvals, industrial land protection, and alignment across 33 local councils.
Public consultation runs until late February, with final adoption expected next year.
