Northern Ireland’s DAERA has announced £915,000 in new funding for 13 nature recovery projects through its Environment Fund, supporting efforts to restore habitats, boost biodiversity, and tackle environmental threats.
Projects include rat eradication on Rathlin Island, habitat conservation by the National Trust, litter reduction, freshwater training, erosion control, and curlew monitoring at Lough Neagh.
The funding, part of a multi-year strategy, complements over £3.2 million previously awarded and underscores the government’s commitment to reversing biodiversity loss.
Minister Andrew Muir stressed the need for urgent, sustained action to protect the region’s natural environment.
