The 2026 Newcastle Writers Festival features 150 writers in 100 events across three cities, with international and local authors, starting March 27.
The 2026 Newcastle Writers Festival, March 27–29, will host 150 writers across 100 events in Newcastle, Cessnock, and Port Stephens.
Featured guests include international authors Charlotte McConaghy and A.C. Grayling, culinary icon Stephanie Alexander celebrating the 30th anniversary of The Cook’s Companion, poet Evelyn Araluen, former NSW premier Bob Carr discussing his memoir, and Omar Musa promoting his novel Fierceland.
Events include a community history walk, outdoor reading party, and the Philosopher’s Café.
Supported by Create NSW, the University of Newcastle, and the City of Newcastle, the festival’s full schedule and ticket sales begin February 6 and 9.
Festival director Rosemarie Milsom describes the program as “eclectic and dynamic.”
