A Lincoln woman accused in her 8-month-old daughter’s death is deemed not competent to stand trial.
A Lincoln woman, Tanya Greenwood, 29, accused in the death of her 8-month-old daughter, has been deemed not competent to stand trial.
The infant died on August 14 from a traumatic brain injury consistent with shaking, according to an autopsy and child abuse specialist.
Tanya reported finding the baby crying intensely after returning from grocery shopping and wanted medical help, but her husband Ryan, who is also charged with intentional child abuse resulting in death, reportedly discouraged her.
Court records show Tanya had seen Ryan shake the baby before and searched online for information about shaken baby syndrome after the death.
She also texted Ryan about prior injuries on the infant.
Ryan’s next court date is set for March 9, 2026.
Tanya has been committed to the Lincoln Region Center for evaluation.
