Karnataka blames delays in Krishna project on neighboring states and central inaction since 2013.
Karnataka's Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar blamed prolonged delays in the Upper Krishna Project Phase 3 on objections from neighboring states and the central government’s failure to issue a key implementation notification since 2013.
He said the state has revised land compensation, plans to spend ₹15,000–20,000 crore annually, and aims to complete land acquisition within three to four years.
A ₹1,722 crore proposal for Ghataprabha canal rehabilitation has been sent to the Centre with a 60-40 cost-sharing agreement.
Other projects, including Nagarbetta Lift Irrigation, are on track for completion by March 2026.
