Fort Wayne seeks a $10.3M annual rate hike by 2028 to fix water infrastructure, with public input due by Jan. 23.
The Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission will hold a public hearing on December 17 to review Fort Wayne’s proposed three-phase water rate increase, which seeks to raise annual revenues by $10.3 million to fund infrastructure repairs, stormwater projects, and lead service replacements.
The city aims to increase monthly bills for typical users by about $5.60 by summer 2028, with total monthly costs rising nearly $11.80 when combined with sewage and stormwater fees by 2029.
The proposal includes up to $70 million in long-term debt and follows City Council approval in August.
Written comments are accepted through January 23 via the Indiana Office of Utility Consumer Counselor.
A decision is expected by summer 2026.
