Emeis Ireland Ltd, Ireland’s largest nursing home provider, reported a €8.08 million operating profit in 2024, with revenues up 14% to €143.3 million.
The company operates 25 homes and provides over 40,000 hours of home care monthly, employing 2,563 people.
This comes after an RTÉ Investigates exposé in June 2024 revealed serious care failures at two facilities, prompting Hiqa to find the care shown “wholly unacceptable” and a human rights violation.
Hiqa confirmed management improvements and recommended external reviews, though the company’s financials do not directly reference the scandal, noting only reputational risk.
Emeis invested €46.9 million in assets, ended the year with a €245.97 million shareholders’ deficit, and held €10.7 million in cash.
One subsidiary reported a €2.93 million post-tax profit.
