Dollar General to pay $1.55 million to settle PA overcharging claims, improve pricing accuracy.
Dollar General and its parent company have agreed to pay $1.55 million to settle allegations of overcharging Pennsylvania consumers, following an investigation that found price discrepancies in over 40% of inspections at the chain’s 900+ state locations.
The settlement, reached with Attorney General Dave Sunday, requires Dollar General to improve pricing accuracy through employee training, weekly shelf tag updates, biannual unannounced audits, and 24-hour correction of errors.
Stores must post notices at registers about price overrides, and those failing three audits annually face enhanced reviews.
Consumers who believe they were overcharged are urged to report incidents to the Bureau of Consumer Protection.
