Calgary Airport launches new security checkpoint with CT scanners, boosting efficiency ahead of holiday travel.
Calgary International Airport has launched a new centralized security checkpoint, consolidating three domestic lanes into one with advanced CT scanners, allowing passengers to keep liquids, gels, aerosols, and laptops in carry-ons.
The $50-million upgrade, completed ahead of schedule, adds seven lanes and is expected to increase screening efficiency by 30 to 50 percent.
Phase 2, adding two more lanes, is set for late 2026.
The change aims to improve the travel experience, especially during the busy December holiday season, when the airport expects about 1.5 million passengers.
Travelers are advised to pack liquids over 100 mL in checked bags and avoid wrapping gifts.
