Wallingford’s Rest Garden reopened post-refurbishment with improved drainage, new features, and continued holiday traditions.
Wallingford’s Rest Garden has reopened after a November 2025 refurbishment addressing years of deterioration from poor drainage, uneven surfaces, and declining tree health.
The project, led by Wallingford Town Council and GreenArt Garden Design, included new benches, improved drainage, a specimen birch tree, and native hornbeam hedging to screen bins, while preserving the garden’s character.
The space continues its annual Christmas Tree of Gratitude tradition, with free tags and baubles available for memorial messages.
Further planting will boost biodiversity, and officials credit community collaboration for the swift completion despite rainy weather.
