On December 8, 2025, tribal leaders and civil society groups in Dimapur, Nagaland, reaffirmed their opposition to the central government’s push to apply the National Highways Act, 1956, for land acquisition, opting instead to maintain the state’s Nagaland Land (Requisition and Acquisition) Act, 1965.
