The 2025 TikTok Awards in Johannesburg honored top creators from five African nations, with Shallipopi named Artiste of the Year.
The 2025 TikTok Awards for Sub-Saharan Africa, held in Johannesburg, honored top digital creators from Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya, Ghana, and Tanzania under the theme “New Era, New Icons.” Nigerian Afrobeats artist Shallipopi won Artiste of the Year, while Raja’atu Muhammed Ibrahim took Creator of the Year for her food storytelling.
Brian Nwana was named Storyteller of the Year, and Fanuel John Masamaki won Video of the Year.
Kenya’s @tunero_animations earned Rising Star of the Year, and Dejoke Ogunbiyi was recognized as Social Impact Creator of the Year.
The event, supported by Coca-Cola, NIVEA, and others, will be rebroadcast on TikTok LIVE on December 11 at 20:00 SAST.
