Saudi Arabia and Qatar agree to build a high-speed rail linking Riyadh and Doha, boosting regional ties and economic integration.
Saudi Arabia and Qatar have signed a landmark agreement to build a 785-kilometer high-speed electric railway connecting Riyadh and Doha, with stops in Al-Hofuf and Dammam.
The project, set for completion in six years, will operate at speeds exceeding 300 km/h, reducing travel time between the capitals to about two hours.
It aims to carry 10 million passengers annually, create around 30,000 jobs, and enhance regional economic integration.
The deal was finalized during a visit by Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to Riyadh and marks a significant step in the normalization of ties following a 2017 diplomatic rift.
The rail link supports broader cooperation in trade, security, energy, and regional stability.
