Pakistan’s new military chief demands Afghanistan choose between ties with Islamabad or supporting the TTP, amid rising tensions.
Pakistan’s new military chief, Gen. Asim Munir, has demanded Afghanistan’s Taliban government choose between diplomatic ties with Islamabad or supporting the Pakistani Taliban (TTP), a militant group linked to recent deadly attacks.
Speaking at the launch of Pakistan’s new joint military command in Rawalpindi, Munir emphasized enhanced coordination across all military domains amid rising regional threats.
The warning follows deteriorating relations after October border clashes and explosions in Kabul, though a Qatar-brokered ceasefire remains in place.
Munir also warned India against future aggression, citing a recent conflict where Pakistan repelled Indian strikes, and reaffirmed its commitment to defending sovereignty.
No response was issued by Kabul.
