Nigeria has banned all cash payments for federal revenues, requiring all government agencies to switch to electronic payments via approved devices within 45 days.
The move, effective January 1, 2026, mandates direct electronic remittances to the Treasury Single Account, prohibits deductions before payment, and makes the new Federal Treasury e-Receipt the only valid proof of payment.
