A former Australian nurse pleads not guilty to threatening Israeli patients in a viral video, sparking national backlash and raising anti-Semitism concerns.
A former Australian nurse, Sarah Abu Lebdeh, 27, has pleaded not guilty to charges of threatening violence and using a carriage service to menace after a viral video showed her and colleague Ahmad Rashad Nadir, 28, allegedly refusing to treat Israeli patients and making threatening remarks during a hospital shift.
The incident, captured in a private online chat and shared by Israeli influencer Max Veifer, prompted national condemnation, led to both nurses being suspended nationwide, and raised concerns about anti-Semitism in Sydney and Melbourne.
Abu Lebdeh, who remains on strict bail prohibiting social media and travel, faces trial in late 2026 or early 2027.
Nadir, who has apologized through his lawyer, faces a single charge and has not yet entered a plea.
A third charge against Abu Lebdeh was dropped.
Authorities confirm no patients were harmed, and the case hinges on intent.
