Court freezes assets of Rep. Eric Yap and associates over P16B fraud in La Union flood project.
The Court of Appeals has frozen the assets of Benguet Rep. Eric Yap, his brother Edvic, and their companies, including bank accounts, insurance policies, securities, and eight aircraft, over allegations involving a substandard flood control project in La Union.
The freeze, announced by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on December 9, 2025, targets over P16 billion in government contracts linked to Silverwolves Construction Corp. and DPWH projects, with evidence of fake "prop" pipes used to falsely show completion.
The Ombudsman identified Eric Yap as a beneficial owner and noted P70 million received from controversial contractor Sarah Discaya.
Eight DPWH officials from Davao Occidental plan to surrender over a P96.5-million ghost project.
