Former Spokane City Council President Ben Stuckart pleaded guilty to obstructing federal officers during a June 2024 protest at an ICE facility, where he and eight others blocked exits to prevent the deportation of two Venezuelan asylum seekers.
Stuckart, who had legally sponsored one of the men, said he acted on moral grounds and accepted full responsibility, acknowledging potential consequences.
Under a plea agreement, his case will be reevaluated in June 2025, with the possibility of the charge being reduced to a misdemeanor.
Other members of the group, known as the “Spokane 9,” are expected to enter similar agreements or face trial.
