Alexa Brabec earns U.S. women’s first Nordic combined World Cup podium in over five years.
Alexa Brabec, a 21-year-old skier from Steamboat Springs, ended a five-year U.S. podium drought in Nordic combined by earning third place in the women’s Individual Gundersen race in Trondheim, Norway.
Competing in her first World Cup event of the season, Brabec started fifth after a 94-meter ski jump and surged to the podium, finishing 13.8 seconds behind winner Ida Marie Hagen of Norway and 0.1 seconds behind Germany’s Nathalie Armbruster.
Her result marks the first American podium in the event since Tara Geraghty-Moats in December 2020, and makes Brabec the first female athlete from her club to achieve a World Cup podium.
She credited strong training and confidence for the performance, aiming to continue her momentum in Saturday’s mass start race.
