Two southern Ontario men were fined $7,000 combined for violating moose hunting rules near Marathon in 2024.
Scott Nadalin of Windsor was fined $5,000 for hunting without a licence, and Anthony Diesbourg of Belle River was fined $2,000 for invalidating his tag after another person killed a bull moose.
Conservation officers found Nadalin shot the moose over 11 km from Diesbourg, breaching party hunting rules requiring hunters to stay within five km of the tag holder.
The moose was seized and donated to a local Indigenous community.
The case was heard in Thunder Bay, where Justice of the Peace Jennifer L. Robinson imposed the penalties under Ontario’s wildlife regulations.
