Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent sold his North Dakota farm to comply with ethics rules, ending his financial ties to the property.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has sold his North Dakota soybean and corn farm, worth up to $25 million, to comply with an ethics agreement he signed in January.
The divestiture follows a warning from the Office of Government Ethics in August that he had not fully met the agreement’s requirements.
Bessent, who previously owned the farm as an investor, confirmed the sale during a CBS interview, stating he no longer has financial ties to the property.
Most of his other assets, including his hedge fund Key Square Group, are to be divested by April 28, 2025, with 96% of required divestitures already completed.
