JERA and Torrent Power agree to a 10-year LNG deal starting 2027, supplying 270,000 tonnes yearly to power plants and city gas networks.
JERA, Japan’s largest power generator, has signed a 10-year LNG supply deal with India’s Torrent Power, starting in 2027, to deliver up to 270,000 tonnes annually.
The LNG will fuel Torrent’s 2,730 MW gas-fired power plants and support its city gas distribution network, supplying homes, businesses, and CNG vehicles.
The agreement leverages seasonal demand differences, allowing JERA to optimize its global fleet during Japan’s lower-demand periods.
It marks JERA’s first long-term LNG export deal outside Japan and reflects growing energy cooperation between the two nations.
