The Supreme Court of India has ordered the Enforcement Directorate to respond within three days to journalist Mahesh Langa’s bail plea in a money laundering case tied to alleged financial fraud.
The court, led by Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi, scheduled a further hearing for December 15, 2025.
Langa, arrested in October 2024 over a GST fraud and later detained in February 2025, faces multiple charges including fraud, cheating, and criminal misappropriation.
The Gujarat High Court previously denied his bail, citing risks to the prosecution.
The ED cited the unavailability of Solicitor General Tuhar Mehta as a reason for a brief adjournment.
The court also questioned the validity of Langa’s journalistic credentials.
