India's NSE launches 15-minute pre-open session for equity derivatives on Dec. 8, 2025, to boost price accuracy and stability.
Starting December 8, 2025, India’s National Stock Exchange (NSE) launched a 15-minute pre-open session for equity derivatives, including single-stock and index futures, to improve price discovery and market stability.
The session, from 9:00 to 9:15 a.m., includes order entry (9:00–9:08 a.m.), order matching (9:08–9:12 a.m.) to determine an equilibrium opening price, and a buffer period (9:12–9:15 a.m.).
It applies to current-month and last-five-day next-month futures, excluding options, spread contracts, far-month contracts, and ex-date securities.
Orders are matched in a specific hierarchy with real-time data available.
The change aims to reduce opening volatility and enhance trading efficiency.
