India completes 60-meter bridge in Jammu & Kashmir, linking villages and cutting travel by 19 km.
The Border Roads Organisation has completed the 60-meter Bhawani Sethu bridge in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district, providing the first direct road link since independence for villages Bhawani, Kslsian, and Jhangher to Qila Dharhal and district headquarters.
Built over the Bhawani Nala at a cost of ₹8.9 crore and finished in October 2025, the bridge reduces travel distance from 30 to 11 kilometers and offers a safe, all-weather route for civilians and security forces.
Part of an 11.85-km stretch being upgraded to a National Highway, it enhances strategic connectivity in a sensitive border region.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the bridge virtually on December 7, 2025, as part of 125 border infrastructure projects.
Local residents praised the completion for improving mobility, safety, and socio-economic development.
