Syrian leader accuses Israel of 1,000+ airstrikes and incursions since Assad’s fall, demands withdrawal and rejects buffer zones.
Syrian interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa accused Israel of conducting over 1,000 airstrikes and 400 incursions into southern Syria since the fall of Bashar al-Assad, calling the actions “fighting ghosts” and demanding Israel withdraw to pre-December 8, 2024, lines.
Speaking at the Doha Forum, he insisted Syria would not accept any buffer zone without its military presence, emphasized ongoing U.S.-led negotiations, and highlighted progress on economic recovery, including improved electricity and foreign investment.
He reiterated Syria’s commitment to stability, rule of law, and future elections, while rejecting proposals for a demilitarized zone.
