India's Raipur-Visakhapatnam highway, cutting travel time from 12 to 5 hours, is set for completion by December 2026.
The 465-kilometre, six-lane Raipur-Visakhapatnam Economic Corridor, part of India’s PM Gati Shakti initiative, is set for completion by December 2026.
It will cut travel time between the two cities from 12 to five hours and reduce the route length from 597 to 465 kilometres.
Designed to boost trade and logistics, the Rs 16,482 crore Greenfield highway will link industrial zones in Chhattisgarh and Odisha directly to Visakhapatnam Port and the Chennai-Kolkata National Highway.
Passing through forested and tribal areas, the project aims to improve regional development, reduce freight and fuel costs, enhance safety with a 100 km/h speed limit, and increase land values.
