Germany, France, and Spain to discuss FCAS project future amid disputes and deadline pressure.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and French President Emmanuel Macron are set to discuss the future of the €100 billion Future Combat Air System (FCAS) project in the week of December 15, following a meeting of defense ministers from Germany, France, and Spain on December 11.
The project, launched over eight years ago, has faced ongoing disputes over workshare and technology control between Dassault Aviation and Airbus.
Merz has urged a decision on the program’s continuation by year-end, with German business leaders pushing to save it.
The German government confirmed the chancellor’s schedule will be announced later, while France did not respond to requests for comment.
EU defense talks are also planned in Brussels from December 17 to 19.
