A former UK police officer was barred from policing for falsifying records and ignoring a victim’s assault reports.
Daniel Burford, a former Newbury police constable, has been disqualified from policing after a disciplinary hearing found he failed to properly record a victim’s repeated requests to report a September 2024 assault, falsely documented the victim’s refusal to cooperate, and failed to ensure the case continued during his leave.
The panel concluded he breached standards of honesty, integrity, and duty, and deemed dismissal the only appropriate outcome if he remained in service.
He was issued a Regulation 30 notice on July 21, 2025, and added to the Barred List, preventing future policing work.
This follows a prior final written warning from July 2024.
