Father and son arrested in Oklahoma for trafficking 75 guns and ammo to criminal networks.
Andres Avila, 48, and his son Anthony Avila, 22, were arrested in Oklahoma on federal charges for allegedly trafficking 75 firearms and ammunition.
The pair, both linked to a Texas pawn shop, reportedly used cash to buy guns at gun shows, filled backpacks, and transferred weapons into totes stored under a vendor’s table.
An investigation by ICE, ATF, and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol uncovered the scheme after a traffic stop revealed bulk ammunition and confirmed Andres was in the U.S. illegally, making him ineligible to possess firearms.
Authorities say the weapons were intended for resale to criminal networks, and the seizure is seen as a major law enforcement success.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney John W. Dowdell.
