The Archdiocese of Philadelphia launched a 25-day St. Andrew Novena from November 30 to December 24, urging Catholics to pray 15 times daily for the spiritual return of the estimated 83% of baptized Catholics who no longer participate in the sacramental life of the Church.
Led by the Office for the New Evangelization, the initiative invites participants to pray for loved ones and register initials for communal intercession, with over 400 people already involved.
The effort, rooted in the Advent season’s themes of hope and reconciliation, draws on St. Andrew’s symbolism as a “fisher of men” and is part of the archdiocese’s broader “Trust and Hope” campaign to renew parishes and re-engage Catholics amid changing realities.
