Vestas wins 10 MW wind deal in Italy to power a cement plant with renewable energy, the country’s first such project.
Vestas has won a 10 MW wind project order from Italy’s Cementeria Costantinopoli to supply renewable energy directly to a cement factory in Basilicata, marking the first such project in Italy to exclusively power an energy-intensive industrial facility with wind.
The project will deploy three V117-3.45 MW turbines adjacent to the plant, meeting about one-third of its electricity needs.
A 10-year service agreement ensures performance optimization, with delivery and commissioning set for Q4 2026.
The initiative supports industrial decarbonization and strengthens Vestas’ leadership in Italy, where it has installed over 6 GW of wind capacity since 1991.
