Venezuelan billionaire Lopez granted bail to stay at Oxfordshire estate while facing Swiss money laundering charges.
Venezuelan billionaire Leopoldo Alejandro Betancourt Lopez, wanted in Switzerland over alleged money laundering, has been granted bail allowing him to remain at his £18 million Oxfordshire estate while fighting charges.
The Westminster Magistrates Court permitted him to split time between his estate in Wantage and a Chelsea property, using a private helicopter.
Lopez, worth an estimated £2.6 billion and chairman of Derwick Associates, is a descendant of a former Venezuelan acting president.
He has proposed upgrades to the 300-acre estate, including a polo field and equestrian center.
Additional conditions include a ban on applying for international travel documents.
The case is ongoing.
