Pakistan's military says Imran Khan is mentally ill and spreading anti-state rhetoric while imprisoned.
Pakistan’s military has labeled imprisoned former Prime Minister Imran Khan “mentally ill,” accusing him of spreading an anti-state narrative that threatens national security.
Through spokesperson Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, the military cited Khan’s public criticism of army chief Gen. Asim Munir, his social media posts, and prison visits as evidence of efforts to destabilize the country.
The military reiterated its stance on political neutrality, warning that no individual, regardless of status, should undermine state institutions.
The remarks come amid ongoing political tensions, following Khan’s arrest in 2023, his continued imprisonment on corruption charges, and his party’s allegations of election rigging in 2024.
