Over 10,000 removal warrants issued by Canada’s Border Services Agency have been active for more than a year, despite record removals of over 22,000 people in the past 12 months. The agency holds more than 33,000 active warrants, with nearly 30,000 removals in progress as of October 31, 2025. Most individuals are deemed inadmissible for immigration violations, not criminality. CBSA removes about 400 people weekly, but new warrants are added faster than they are resolved. The federal government plans to hire 1,000 additional officers over three years to address staffing shortages.
