Nigeria mandates POS operators to register by Jan. 1, 2026, or face shutdowns and equipment seizure.
Nigeria’s Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has mandated all Point of Sale (POS) operators to register by January 1, 2026, or face shutdown and equipment seizure.
The crackdown, effective nationwide, targets unregistered operators violating the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) 2020 and Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) regulations.
The CAC warned that unregulated POS activities threaten financial system integrity and consumer safety.
Security agencies will enforce compliance, and fintech companies enabling illegal operations may be reported to the CBN and placed on a watchlist.
