Liberia’s civil servants can now get 50% salary advances and low-interest loans through a new bank partnership.
The Civil Service Agency of Liberia and Afriland First Bank have launched a new financial program offering civil servants a 50% salary advance and long-term loans at a 3% interest rate, repayable over three to five years.
The initiative, announced on December 4, 2025, in Monrovia, is available only to civil servants with salary accounts at Afriland First Bank.
It aims to improve financial stability, support personal development, and stimulate local economic activity.
The program is part of broader civil service reforms, including consistent salary payments, a $150 minimum monthly wage, and the integration of over 4,000 volunteer workers into the national payroll.
Digital upgrades like an automated legal power of attorney system and a computerized exam platform were also introduced.
Over 70 wrongfully dismissed employees have been reinstated.
Both organizations view the partnership as a transformative step toward stronger public institutions and improved livelihoods.
