Kerala delays its voter roll update to Dec. 18, 2025, due to local elections, per Supreme Court approval.
The Election Commission of India has extended Kerala’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) schedule by one week due to ongoing local body elections, pushing the enumeration deadline to December 18, 2025.
The draft electoral roll will now be published on December 23, with claims and objections accepted until January 22, 2026, and the final roll released on February 21, 2026, instead of February 14.
The decision follows a Supreme Court directive allowing Kerala to request a delay, citing the unavailability of political workers needed for both local elections and SIR activities.
The extension applies only to Kerala; other states retain the original schedule.
