Ireland launches its first shared parish, uniting seven churches to tackle priest shortages.
A new shared parish area, St Carlo Acutis Parish Pastoral Area, has been launched in County Waterford, becoming Ireland’s first of its kind.
It unites seven churches from four parishes to address priest shortages and improve resource management.
While each church keeps its identity and local staff, a central office handles administration, finances, and records.
The initiative, approved by Bishop Alphonsus Cullinan and launched on October 12, features relics of St Carlo Acutis and a dedicated website.
