The Girls Inspired programme, run by Active Essex Foundation, has supported vulnerable girls aged 11 to 24 across six cohorts in Essex by combining sports, mental health support, mentoring, and life skills training.

Many now in further education or training, participants have shown dramatic improvements in behavior, attendance, and emotional stability, with officials crediting early, gender-specific support using physical activity and holistic mentoring as key to reducing vulnerability and preventing long-term harm.
