A former soldier and journalist died from heart and lung issues linked to toxic fume exposure during work, with a legal case against CNN pending.

Adam Dobby, a 54-year-old Oxfordshire journalist and former soldier, died on October 30 at John Radcliffe Hospital after complications linked to occupational exposure to toxic fumes, an inquest at Oxford Coroner's Court heard. The cause of death was acute heart failure due to sustained heart rhythm disturbances, cardiac arrest, lung collapse, and airway inflammation. Dobby, who had reported from conflict zones and worked as a security consultant for CNN, had recently filed legal action against the network seeking £200,000 over alleged exposure. The inquest was adjourned until March 30, 2026.
