Canada unveils eight major defence projects under new agency, excluding fighter jets and land vehicles.
The Canadian government has revealed the first eight major defence projects under the newly created Defence Investment Agency, including a new submarine fleet, Arctic radar systems, and early warning aircraft.
Led by former banker Doug Guzman, the agency oversees procurements over $100 million to streamline and accelerate military equipment acquisition for the Canadian Armed Forces.
It does not manage land vehicles or fighter jets.
The projects were disclosed in parliamentary documents following a request by Conservative MP Scott Anderson, part of Prime Minister Mark Carney’s election campaign pledge to improve defence spending efficiency.
