Twenty new officers were sworn in by Lexington Mayor Linda Gorton after completing a 26- to 27-week training program that included classroom instruction, firearms practice, defensive tactics, and community policing.
The recruits, who underwent rigorous physical and mental challenges, will now begin a 15-week field training phase before full patrol duty.
