Thailand to raise outbound airport tax by 53% in 2026 to fund airport upgrades.
Thailand will raise its international outbound airport tax from 730 to 1,120 baht per passenger, a 53% increase, effective early 2026 at six major airports including Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, and Hat Yai.
The change, approved by the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand, aims to generate about 10 billion baht annually for infrastructure upgrades, including expanding Suvarnabhumi’s capacity.
The fee will be included in ticket prices and not paid at the airport.
The move follows a review process and public notice period, with no impact on domestic flights or smaller airports.
