A suspicious vehicle parked near Terre Haute’s Vigo County Courthouse on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2025, triggered a four-hour emergency response, including evacuations of the courthouse and city hall, road closures, and a bomb squad investigation. Authorities, including the Indiana State Police and local agencies, responded to concerns over a potential explosive device. The vehicle, later identified as containing no hazardous materials, was cleared by 6 p.m., with the area reopened by 6:30 p.m. A 55-year-old man, Jessie Ison, was arrested on felony charges of intimidation and obstruction of traffic after making threatening remarks. No injuries occurred, and the city rescheduled its council meeting.
