Regina appoints Lorilee Davies as its first female police chief, effective Nov. 25, 2025.
Lorilee Davies has been officially named Regina’s first female police chief, making history as the first woman to lead the Regina Police Service in Saskatchewan.
Appointed after the October termination of former chief Farooq Sheikh, who was found guilty of inappropriate private communications with a police board member, Davies, a 30-year veteran with 29 years of service, had previously served as acting chief and deputy chief.
Mayor Chad Bachynski praised her leadership and institutional knowledge, while Davies emphasized her commitment to member wellness, inclusivity, and community trust.
Her appointment, effective November 25, marks a milestone for gender representation in law enforcement, with a formal swearing-in set for early 2026.
