Pakistan asks UK to extradite two nationals accused of anti-state propaganda and fake news.
Pakistan has formally requested the UK extradite Mirza Shahzad Akbar and Adil Farooq Raja, two Pakistani nationals wanted over allegations of spreading anti-state propaganda and fake news.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi delivered extradition documents to British High Commissioner Jane Marriott, stressing that while freedom of expression is respected, the spread of harmful misinformation targeting state institutions is unacceptable.
The process is underway through Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with Islamabad urging swift action.
Akbar, a former adviser and head of the Asset Recovery Unit, and Raja, a former army major and YouTuber convicted in absentia for sedition and leaking secrets, are both accused of undermining national security.
The UK has not yet responded.
