A 6-year-old Oklahoma City boy died after being hit by a school bus near his school.
A 6-year-old first-grader from Fillmore Elementary in Oklahoma City died Wednesday afternoon after being struck by an OKCPS bus near the school during a drop-off.
The incident occurred shortly after dismissal at the intersection of Southwest 51st Street and Douglas Avenue as the boy, along with two others, ran in front of the bus.
Despite emergency response efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The bus driver has been cleared of wrongdoing.
Oklahoma City Public Schools expressed sorrow and announced counselors would be available starting Thursday.
Authorities continue investigating, and the area remains closed.
