Australian authorities have sentenced Tse Chi Lop, a 62-year-old Canadian national dubbed "Asia's El Chapo," to 16 years in prison for leading a major international drug trafficking ring.
He pleaded guilty to conspiring to traffic methamphetamine into Australia between 2012 and 2013, with the Sam Gor syndicate, known as the largest supplier of meth in the country at its peak.
Arrested in Amsterdam in 2021 and extradited in 2022, Tse faces a minimum of 10 years before parole eligibility.
The case, part of a 14-year investigation, underscores Australian law enforcement’s reach in targeting global criminal networks.
